About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Portfolio Strategist to join our Energy Procurement team at DS Smith, a leading player in the global packaging industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and maintaining the company's energy hedging portfolio, ensuring that it remains profitable and aligned with the company's goals and objectives. As part of this role, you will work closely with the Head of Risk, Energy & Commodities using your analytical expertise to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on energy and commodity portfolios to evaluate their performance, assess risk, and draw insights that can aid hedging decision-making.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Analyzing and evaluating financial data to measure the performance of the company's hedge portfolio
  • Developing reports and analysis to support hedging decisions and recommendations
  • Monitoring and assessing market trends and economic indicators to guide hedging strategies
  • Collaborating with Portfolio Managers and Investment Officers to ensure portfolio alignment with company objectives
  • Identifying and analyzing hedging opportunities and risks, making recommendations to senior management
  • Managing and maintaining hedge positioning data and records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and market trends
  • Strong Excel skills is a must, Python and other programming language proficiency preferred
  • Proficient in trading/risk management software and data analysis tools
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present investment recommendations and analysis to senior management
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience in quantitative analysis and financial modelling
