Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients in the community and general adult settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment plans for patients in the community and general adult settings.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans that meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities to ensure high-quality care and patient safety.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff to ensure their development and growth.
  • Contribute to research and audit projects to improve patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Hold a medical qualification (e.g. MBBS or equivalent) and a Licence to Practise.
  • Be a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or have a recognised equivalent.
  • Have a CCT in Psychiatry or be on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
  • Have Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or be able to obtain approval before starting the post.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have experience of working in a community and general adult setting.
  • Have knowledge of clinical governance and patient safety.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Hold a higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Have experience of working in a leadership or management role.
  • Have experience of teaching and training junior medical staff.
  • Have experience of conducting research and audit projects.
