About the Role

Gordon Murray Group is seeking a highly skilled Material Controller to join our team in Shalford/Windlesham. As a key member of our logistics operations, you will play a crucial role in supporting the establishment and ramp-up of our Logistics Control Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and lead Logistics Control Operations to enable vehicle production on a daily basis, ensuring high-quality vehicles across all models.
  • Collaborate with GMAE/GMA members to develop and standardize Logistics Control Operations milestones, meeting customer expectations and maximizing production.
  • Work closely with the Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Design teams to ensure capacity planning, on-time delivery, and stock control.
  • Develop a supply chain strategy within GMA, working with internal stakeholders to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Continuously improve and develop logistics processes, investigating stock discrepancies and improving information accuracy.
  • Liaise with Manufacturing and Purchasing departments to avoid manufacturing delays.
  • Support Production control/Purchasing functions as needed to cover holidays and absences.
  • Support Cycle Time and line rebalancing, trials, and training activities from a logistics perspective.
  • Support new model activities, promoting problem-solving through daily management and engaging team members to improve processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage/controlling weekly and monthly stock levels, delivery times, and transport costs, coordinating and controlling the order cycle.
  • Identify waste in logistics processes and implement activities to improve efficiency.
  • Be available to work OT, shutdowns, and travel as needed.
Requirements
  • Experience in procurement of materials.
  • Experience with ERP and/or MRP systems.
  • Able to analyze complex data to ensure optimization of manufacturing constraints.
  • Excellent proficiency in the use of office products (predominantly Excel).
  • Approachable and adaptable to change.
  • Proactive and autonomous.
  • Previous experience in a comparable role.
  • Experience in working collaboratively and cross-functionally.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of demand planning and forecasting processes.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize own workload.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, in addition to strong Excel skills.
  • Organized, persuasive, resourceful, flexible, ambitious, self-directing, passion for delivering objectives, comfortable challenging existing processes.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients, both written and verbal.
  • Must be a team player.
