Job Title: HPC Power and Cooling Specialist

Lenovo is seeking a highly skilled HPC Power and Cooling Specialist to join its Global HPC Professional Services team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing and working effectively in the areas of deciphering complex RFP requirements, architecting power and cooling solutions, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop clear understanding of requirements and success criteria.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Decipher complex RFP requirements related to facility power and cooling infrastructure and help IT architects design an IT solution that fits within those limitations.
  • Architect complex power and cooling solutions for air and water-cooled IT solutions.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop a clear understanding of requirements and success criteria.
  • Collaborate with sales and critical engineering subject matter experts to determine the solution scope and projected costs.
  • Capture the solution description and review with key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with engineers and developers to ensure the tasks are well understood and acceptance criteria met.
  • Continue partnerships with internal or external customers to ensure the project goals and requirements are met.
  • Drive the build vs. buy decisions as needed, and identify key technologies needed to deliver new products with each release.
  • Participate actively with Development and external organizations like ASHRAE while staying current with technologies and techniques that will move our business forward.
  • Be actively involved in the physical installation of complex IT systems that are air or water-cooled.
  • Be able to provide engineering guidance over a wide range of disciplines (power/electrical, mechanical, thermal, plumbing, controls).
  • Effectively project manage vendors contracted to provide separate pieces of the solution.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in technology disciplines such as power/electrical or mechanical/thermal engineering.
  • Understanding of data center and IT solution power delivery architectures.
  • Understanding of data center and IT solution cooling architectures and heat transfer.
  • Proven ability to work across a wide range of stakeholders and ability to drive issues to closure.
  • Experience in providing effective leadership in engagements as a technical consultant in the power and cooling subject matter area.
  • Develop training and knowledge base documentation for technical skills throughout career.

You will report to SSG (Solutions & Services Group) organization structure. SSG has been focusing on the expanding IT service market, especially the digital workplace services opportunity, the growing demand for aaS (as a Service) model, and customers' stronger preference for sustainability services. Meanwhile, SSG has continued to invest in software tools, platforms, and repeatable vertical solutions with our own IP, and focus on vertical solutions in manufacturing, retail, healthcare, education, and Smart City. We are expanding TruScale as a Service to include Digital Workplace Solutions, developing our Hybrid Cloud solutions, and exploring Metaverse solutions.
