About the Role

Lenovo is seeking a highly skilled HPC Consultant Power and Cooling to join its Global HPC Professional Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering complex power and cooling solutions for air and water-cooled IT systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Decipher complex RFP requirements related to facility power and cooling infrastructure and design an IT solution that fits within those limitations.
  • Architect complex power and cooling solutions for air and water-cooled IT systems.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop a clear understanding of requirements and success criteria.
  • Collaborate with sales and critical engineering subject matter experts to determine the solution scope and projected costs.
  • Capture the solution description and review with key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with engineers and developers to ensure tasks are well understood and acceptance criteria met.
  • Continuously partner with internal or external customers to ensure project goals and requirements are met.
  • Drive build vs. buy decisions as needed, and identify key technologies needed to deliver new products with each release.
  • Participate actively with Development and external organizations like ASHRAE while staying current with technologies and techniques that will move our business forward.
  • Be actively involved in the physical installation of complex IT systems that are air or water-cooled.
  • Provide engineering guidance over a wide range of disciplines, including power/electrical, mechanical, thermal, plumbing, and controls.
  • Effectively project manage vendors contracted to provide separate pieces of the solution.

Requirements

  • Strong customer interaction skills and ability to make technical decisions.
  • Collaboration skills to work across multiple organization verticals, partners, and customers.
  • Experience working in technology disciplines such as power/electrical or mechanical/thermal engineering.
  • Understanding of data center and IT solution power delivery architectures.
  • Understanding of data center and IT solution cooling architectures and heat transfer.
  • Proven ability to work across a wide range of stakeholders and drive issues to closure.
  • Experience in providing effective leadership in engagements as a technical consultant in the power and cooling subject matter area.
  • Develop training and knowledge base documentation for technical skills throughout career.

You will report to the Solutions & Services Group (SSG) organization structure, which focuses on expanding IT service markets, particularly digital workplace services, and investing in software tools, platforms, and repeatable vertical solutions with our own IP. SSG is expanding TruScale as a Service to include Digital Workplace Solutions, developing Hybrid Cloud solutions, and exploring Metaverse solutions.
