We are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to join our team at the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. As a key member of our multidisciplinary treatment team, you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to our inpatient population and lead the clinical team in developing effective treatment plans.
Responsibilities- Assess and evaluate psychiatric illnesses in patients
- Provide clinical leadership to the treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans
- Manage psychiatric medications and document patient response to treatment
- Collaborate with consultants and enter orders for diagnostic tests and therapies
- Attend court hearings and complete medical record documentation
- Coordinate patient care and discharge planning in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- MD degree or equivalent
- Graduate of an approved psychiatry residency program
- License to practice medicine and surgery in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Federal license to prescribe medications
- Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- Clinical experience in forensic psychiatry
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English
