About the Role

As a Senior Counsel, Privacy & Data Protection at Mastercard, Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with global privacy and data protection laws.

The estimated annual salary for this position is $200,000 - $300,000 based on the requirements of the job and the typical compensation packages offered by companies in similar positions within the financial services industry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of cutting-edge technologies from a privacy and data protection standpoint, monitoring new legislative developments to ensure compliance with existing and emerging privacy and data-related laws.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy considerations into business strategies and solutions.
  • Provide expert guidance on data protection best practices, developing contract structures that address privacy and data protection requirements and leading the review and negotiation of applicable privacy and data protection language in agreements with affiliates, vendors, and customers.
  • Analyze Minna and Mastercard synergy solutions in light of privacy and data protection law requirements to identify relevant process and infrastructure requirements for ensuring compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws globally.
  • Perform regular privacy and data protection impact assessments in line with Mastercard's privacy and data protection policies and processes.

Requirements:

  • A law degree and membership to a Bar (if permitted by law) are essential for this role. Additional qualifications such as a Master of Laws degree or IAPP Certifications are highly valued.
  • You should have a solid understanding of the GDPR and global data protection legal frameworks, as well as experience in drafting and negotiating complex data processing terms.
  • Familiarity with the financial services industry and payment processing is also necessary for this position.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail are crucial for success in this role.
  • You should be able to motivate and influence highly skilled professionals to achieve major organizational goals.
