Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team in Wigan. As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in primary education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of Resources: Prepare and deliver tailored resources and activities to support children with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Collaboration with Teachers: Work closely with classroom teachers and SENCOs to develop and implement effective support strategies for children with SEN.
  • Liaison with Professionals: Establish and maintain effective relationships with other professionals, including teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff, to ensure seamless support for children with SEN.
  • Supporting Children: Provide one-to-one support to children with SEN, promoting their personal development, confidence, and well-being.
  • Monitoring Progress: Regularly monitor and track the progress of children with SEN, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to support their development.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Proven experience of working with children with SEN, preferably in a primary education setting.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEN and the ability to adapt to individual needs.
