The Role:

As a Senior Claims Handler, you will be responsible for handling larger and complex losses across various insurance products, predominantly around Construction/Engineering and Cyber. You will work to deliver market-leading customer service to HSB's customers and internal and external stakeholders. You will ensure that claims are handled proactively, competently, and in line with HSB's service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Claims handling on all products across HSB's portfolio from FNOL to settlement, to drive increased levels of customer service and productivity.
  • Work on litigation, mediation, and all legal matters where required.
  • Support the Claims Leadership Team in maintaining a culture of high performance within the claims team.
  • Organise, run, and contribute to stakeholder meetings both internal and external.
  • Manage relationships and expectations internally and with client companies, brokers, intermediaries, direct insureds, and third parties, including face-to-face interactions to deliver excellence through the lifecycle of the claim.
  • Identify any training requirements within the claims team and provide support to the Claims Leadership Team in developing and delivering that training.
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements and governance are met through the process.
  • Ensure the appropriate use of third-party suppliers such as Loss Adjusters, Solicitors, etc.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Good understanding of regulatory and legal frameworks
  • Understanding of the UK insurance market
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage busy workloads
  • Previous experience of the Engineering & Construction market (desirable)
  • Experience dealing with large & complex claims (essential)

Qualifications:

  • ACII (completed or working towards)
  • CIP (Irish equivalent)
