About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Vascular Surgery team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients undergoing vascular surgery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care needs of patients from admission to discharge, involving patients and their relatives/carers.
  • Ensure a high standard of nursing care is performed at all times and assist in the review and regular update of these standards in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct and trust policies.
  • Participate within a team of nurses and support workers in providing continuity of patient care, ensuring patients' physical, social, and psychological needs are met.
  • Participate in internal shift rotation to provide 24-hour patient care.
  • Communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, nursing colleagues, the Multidisciplinary Team, and all other relevant personnel.
  • Carry out clinical procedures and treatments in line with the patient's plan of care.

Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse on part 1, part 2, or part 12 of the NMC register
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
  • Ability to produce an updated personal professional portfolio
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Evidence of Assessing and Mentorship qualification
  • Evidence of appropriate Specialist Qualification
Previous Experience
  • Previous experience of working in a ward/department care environment
  • Currently working in an acute ward environment within the NHS
  • Experience of supporting students/clinical support workers within the NHS
Skills
  • Evidence of good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Sound organisational skills
  • Flexibility
Other Requirements
  • Knowledge of appropriate surgical/medical conditions and their management
Knowledge
  • Awareness of strategies for maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
  • Knowledge of appropriate specialist nursing care requirements
