Senior Political Counsellor for Sub-Saharan Africa

Job Summary
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is seeking a highly skilled Senior Political Counsellor to join its team in Sub-Saharan Africa. As a key member of the Bank's political department, you will be responsible for assessing progress in democratic transition and compliance with the Bank's mandate in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse political developments in assigned countries, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, using a wide range of remote and in-country sources.
- Prepare political and political economy assessments for Country Diagnostics, Country Strategies, and Country Strategy Updates.
- Advise the President and Senior Management on political developments in the region and prepare written briefs as needed.
- Liaise with high-level officials in governments and other bodies relevant to the political aspects of the Bank's activities.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as politics, diplomacy, or international relations.
- Extensive hands-on experience in a number of SSA countries.
- In-depth knowledge of the politics, history, and culture of a significant group of SSA countries.
- Diplomatic experience and sophisticated diplomatic skills required for regular contact with high-level national and international officials.
