The Spire Histology Centre in Manchester is actively seeking a dedicated Biomedical Scientist with HCPC registration to become part of our supportive and collaborative team.
Our state-of-the-art laboratory, situated near Spire Manchester Hospital, processes over 60,000 cases annually. It is equipped with advanced technology, including Vantage digital tracking systems, multiple Macropath dissection stations, Hologic Faxitron, BenchMark Ultra platforms, and the Biocartis Idylla Molecular platform. We are proud to be UKAS accredited to ISO 15189 and are currently enhancing our services with digital pathology initiatives, utilizing 3DHistech P1000 slide scanners and the CaloPix image management system by Tribun Health.
This role presents an excellent opportunity to join a large, successful team committed to delivering outstanding service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the SHC team in delivering exceptional patient care.
- Engage in specimen reception, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, special stains, IHC, and IQC/IQA.
- Complete annual mandatory training requirements.
- Contribute to the training and development of junior staff members.
- Maintain an up-to-date personal CPD portfolio.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- State registered BMS with a minimum of three years' experience in a busy UK histology laboratory.
- Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative spirit.
- Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic work environment.
- Enthusiastic and motivated professional.
