Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead our Slab Track refurbishment, inspection, and maintenance programmes. As Head of Commercial Project Management, you'll be accountable for delivering projects safely, compliantly, and cost-effectively, meeting client requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the delivery of a portfolio of projects in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, adhering to Network Rail company standards, current legislation, and procedures.
  2. Direct and develop specialist teams to deliver successful projects, meeting route objectives for internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to identify cost-effective solutions, establish a robust baseline plan, and manage and maintain the plan to project completion.
  4. Identify and monitor project risks, planning and implementing mitigation strategies.
  5. Manage resource planning for current and projected work banks, including critical resource requirements.
  6. Engage with stakeholders, taking account of their influence and interests.
  7. Establish governance arrangements for project delivery, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities.
  8. Manage CDM requirements associated with programmes.
  9. Update business cases to justify projects in terms of benefits, costs, and risks.
  10. Hold or be working towards chartered status with the Association for Project Management.
  11. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience of CDM regulations.
  12. Proven experience in project environments, including team leadership, planning, contracting, and delivery.
  13. Successful record of project budget management and commercial acumen.
  14. Experience in managing ambiguity and making informed decisions.
  15. Demonstrable safety management practice in project delivery.
Desirable Skills
  1. Demonstrable experience in the Rail Industry Sector, including GRIP.
  2. Detailed knowledge of Investment, Commercial, and Procurement regulations and practices.
  3. Formal qualifications in risk identification and assessment.
  4. Knowledge of Network Rail's assets and their management.
