Job Title: Private Client Tax Senior

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Senior to join our Private Client tax team at Johnston Carmichael. As a Tax Senior, you will play a key role in assisting the team with the preparation of personal and business tax returns, as well as providing support to clients and HM Revenue & Customs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review Partnership Tax Returns for a diverse portfolio of businesses.
  • Process and prepare Self-Assessment Tax Returns for a range of clients, including trusts.
  • Deal with loss relief claims, pension charges, and capital gains tax reliefs.
  • Liaise with clients and HMRC on basic tax and national insurance queries.
  • Check statements of account, repayments, and payments, and address client queries regarding these.
  • Assist the tax team with general tax administration duties.
  • Provide support to the wider tax team with their day-to-day tasks, including identifying and drafting tax advisory assignments.
  • Review simple tax returns prepared by tax assistants.
  • Plan, schedule, and delegate work to Tax Assistants and students, including developing staff and providing feedback.
  • Support the Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager in managing the team by liaising with clients, colleagues, and HMRC.
Requirements:
  • A willingness to develop your tax knowledge.
  • A good level of numerical, written English, communication, and team working skills.
