Job Description: Teaching Assistant (EAL) Role

This role requires a Teaching Assistant with prior secondary school experience, or a graduate looking to pursue a career as a qualified teacher in the future. The successful candidate will provide academic support to students with moderate learning difficulties and encourage learning across a variety of subjects and year groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with moderate learning difficulties, special educational needs and disabilities across a variety of year groups.
  • Provide particular support for students identified with EAL ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Establish constructive relationships with students and interact with them according to individual needs.
  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with students' learning.
  • Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support students to achieve learning goals.
  • Assist with the planning of learning activities.
