The Specimen Management Associate plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and shipment of clinical specimens. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the receipt, opening, and quality check of consignments and shipments, escalating any issues to senior staff.
- Ensure correct disposal and recycling of shipping supplies, preventing specimens from being left in packaging.
- Handle shipping for long-term storage or clients and manage sample disposition.
- May handle receipt of compounds and control material depending on functional area.
- Support after-hour alarms and critical job functions, assisting in equipment maintenance.
- Manage supply inventory and workstation cleanliness, performing general cleanup tasks.
- Perform administrative duties and organize the work area as directed by management.
- Follow safety procedures, participate in continuing education, and adhere to company procedures and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to maintain effective reporting procedures and control workflow.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
