Senior Underwriter Job Description

At THC Recruitment, we are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in assessing consumer credit applications and making informed decisions about lending.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of underwriters, ensuring they meet service level agreements and maintain an acceptable level of bad debt.
  • Underwrite all customer types and score bands within defined risk policy guidelines.
  • Assess customer documentation to establish affordability and accuracy for loans.
  • Check and verify proofs of identification, income, and expenditure received by customers.
  • Assist the Payout Department as required.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in financial services as an underwriter.
  • Strong understanding of lending application processes and ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to manage high volumes of tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of regulations relating to Consumer Duty, Compliance, Data Protection, Anti Money Laundering, Consumer Credit Directive, and Consumer Credit Act.
