About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and creative Tutor to join our Supported Internship programme in Birmingham. As a full-time Tutor, you will be part of a supportive team dedicated to helping young people with learning disabilities, learning difficulties, and/or autism access the world of work.

Your primary focus will be on delivering the educational element of our programmes, inspiring young minds, and developing essential life skills in learners. You will create dynamic and engaging lessons that seamlessly integrate English and math into real-world employability skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspire young minds by creating innovative and interactive lessons.
  • Develop essential life skills in learners to enhance their confidence and independence.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide holistic support and help learners secure paid employment.
  • Deliver accredited qualifications in English and Maths to prepare learners for future success.

Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Level 3 or above).
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above.
  • Experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities, learning difficulties, and/or autism.
  • Experience in delivering functional skills in English and Maths up to Level 2.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary (£28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience).
  • 24 days holiday (plus bank holidays) increasing with long service.
  • Service-related sick pay when 6-month probation is completed.
  • Eligibility to join Mencap Pension Plan where Mencap matches contributions up to 5% on a salary sacrifice basis.
