Assistant Head Chef

As a key member of the Bar and Catering Team, the Assistant Head Chef will play a vital role in delivering exceptional food experiences for our customers. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will be responsible for supporting the kitchen team in achieving the highest standards of food production, while meeting customer expectations, health and safety requirements, and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen management and operations, ensuring seamless execution of menu items and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality meals and fast food within budget, while minimizing waste and optimizing inventory.
  • Contribute to stock ordering, deliveries, and menu planning, ensuring timely receipt of ingredients and supplies.
  • Ensure timely food preparation and adherence to cleaning rotas, maintaining a high level of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
  • Manage stock control and minimize wastage, implementing efficient inventory management practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and contribute new ideas to enhance the culinary experience.
  • Deputize for the Head Chef as needed, taking on additional responsibilities and ensuring continuity of kitchen operations.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is safe and used correctly, reporting any issues to the Bar & Catering Manager.
  • Maintain safety in the kitchen and report concerns to the Bar & Catering Manager or Safety & Compliance Officer.
  • Implement food hygiene regulations, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Be a qualified fire warden and/or first aider, ensuring the safety of the team and customers.
Requirements
  • Qualifications in food hygiene & Catering, for example BTEC HND in professional cookery or equivalent.
  • A Level or similar vocational standard.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality food experiences.
