Job Summary:

  • As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering our council's vision of strengths-based social care. You will work closely with our partners and colleagues to achieve this goal, relying on your competent, confident, creative, and caring workforce.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

  • You will be responsible for mentoring and supervising staff within the team, ensuring professional standards and best practice are upheld.
  • You will ensure that safeguarding adults at risk is a fundamental element of this job, and that the principles are embedded in all procedures, practices, professional advice, decisions, and support.
  • You will work alongside and, when required, deputise for the team manager to create an environment that is supportive and enables you and your colleagues to work with individuals to promote and support independence, choice, and control, with wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
  • You will conduct individual complex assessments and safeguarding enquiries to establish clear, relevant, proportionate, and appropriate options for the individual to meet their identified outcomes.
  • You will work in partnership with adults, their families, carers, and advocates, colleagues, external organisations, to provide appropriate professional social work support for vulnerable older people, adults with physical and sensory impairment, or learning disability, and carers.

Skills/Experience:

  • You must have a minimum of 2 years' UK experience working in adult social care as a social worker.
  • You must have experience of supervising or mentoring social worker staff.
  • You must have experience of complex casework.
