Sustainability Leadership Opportunity

At Whitbread, we're committed to making a positive impact on the environment. As our Head of Sustainability, you'll play a key role in driving our sustainability strategy forward, ensuring we deliver on our ambitious targets while minimizing our environmental footprint.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement our sustainability strategy, working closely with the General Counsel and Executive team to drive business growth and minimize environmental impact.
  • Lead and grow our sustainability team, setting direction and delivering day-to-day activities and department strategies.
  • Communicate sustainability initiatives and progress to stakeholders, including employees, shareholders, NGOs, media, and legislative bodies.
  • Ensure clear reporting and communication of sustainability matters through annual sustainability reports, investor reports, press releases, and internal communications.
  • Engage stakeholders effectively on ESG and sustainability issues, act as a spokesperson on all sustainability matters, and build strong relationships with hotel and restaurant operations teams.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in leading sustainability or ESG strategy in a Head of Role or senior consultant position, with commercial acumen and drive to deliver large complex strategies.
  • A finance-related background or discipline would be beneficial to interpret data and influence key business decisions.
  • Expert knowledge on all sustainability issues and themes, tracking the latest developments and monitoring policies to future-proof our strategy.
  • Natural leadership skills with influencing abilities, navigating change programs through large teams, and building effective relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Strategic and innovative thinking, with the ability to develop new approaches and communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences.
