About the Role

David Wood Foods is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Assurance Assistant to join our QA team at our Kearsley Site.

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

Job Purpose: To monitor and record product quality, ensuring compliance with our quality management system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular quality checks on production lines to ensure adherence to food safety and quality standards.
  • Perform hourly checks on production lines, temperature checks on refrigeration units, and review process control and safety check sheets daily.
  • Issue and review process control and safety check sheets daily, reporting any issues to relevant personnel.
  • Collect and collate samples for shelf-life testing, conduct daily taste panels, and complete quality assurance checks on samples.
  • Take samples for lab analysis, arrange collection, and conduct daily calibration of temperature probes and weighing scales.
  • Conduct monthly audits of glass, brittle, and hard plastics, ceramic, and similar materials.
  • Collate trial information, assist with the creation and updating of internal specifications, and investigate customer complaints.
  • Ensure good manufacturing practices, food safety, quality, and health and safety are maintained at all times.
  • Assist with line release after cleaning down, conduct CCP verifications on lines, and ensure stock in use is based on the principle 'FIRST IN, FIRST OUT'.
  • Conduct process validations/verifications on lines daily, weekly, or as requested by the Manager, and participate in internal audits.

Requirements:

  • Good level of English (writing, reading, listening)
  • Confident in working across the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Food safety and quality knowledge, either through previous experience in Fast Moved Consumer Goods employment or a food-related education
  • Positive attitude and work ethic
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
