Cathedral Appointments | South West Recruitment is seeking two experienced business leaders to join the Board as Executive Directors.
About the Role
We are looking for sector specialists with experience in Property (Agency) and Academia/Higher Education. As an Executive Director, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the Chamber and representing the interests of our diverse member base.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Chair and Vice Chairs in ensuring the highest standards of governance are applied to managing the performance of the Chamber's activities and representing the interests of members.
- Collaborate with the Finance Director to ensure appropriate financial oversight is maintained in the delivery of services by Exeter Chamber and that activities/events are delivered within the parameters agreed in the Business Plan.
- Act as an ambassador for the Exeter Chamber Board, representing the Board at events and with member interactions/comms.
- Ensure the Board of Directors retains a focus on delivering to member requirements, meeting Chamber commitments and acts as a business campaigning voice on key issues for the region.
- Support membership recruitment through introductions to potential member organisations and/or individuals.
Time Commitment
- Attend Chamber Board meetings (currently 11 per annum) – currently held on the 2nd Thursday of each month.
- Where required, serve on sub-groups of the Board attending relevant meetings.
- Attend the Chamber's Annual General Meeting.
- Attend a minimum of two Chamber networking events per annum as a Chamber 'Ambassador'.
Requirements
- A sector specialist with experience in Property (Agency) or Academia/Higher Education.
- A successful senior business leader/owner with operational, functional, and strategic responsibilities.
- Genuine commitment to the Chamber network and an employee of a current member of Exeter Chamber of Commerce or Devon Chamber of Commerce.
- Excellent communication skills with strong personal and local professional networks.
- Drive, commitment, and availability to fulfill the necessary time commitments and responsibilities required.
