About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of students in Totton.

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work closely with students, teachers, and school staff to provide tailored support and promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students, addressing their unique mental health needs and promoting positive wellbeing practices.
  • Collaborate with educational professionals to develop strategies that support students' emotional and mental health.
  • Be a calming presence during challenging situations, offering immediate support and helping students navigate difficult emotions.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, providing updates on students' progress and collaborating on strategies for continued support at home.
  • Work in classrooms, supporting teachers and fellow teaching assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children in a mental health or educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassion and empathy for the wellbeing of children.
  • Experience working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

To be successful in this role, you should have the right to work in the UK, an up-to-date CV with two relevant references, and be willing to apply for a DBS check.
