Aerospace Development Specialist

This role is an excellent opportunity to join Dowty's global team as a Composite Process Development Engineer, supporting the development and delivery of novel composite rotor structures for the next generation of flight. As a key member of our Integrated Project Team, you will be responsible for setting up the production line and supporting low-rate production of test hardware.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering composite rotor hardware for test
- Setting up the production line, including process specifications and documentation, equipment procurement and commissioning, and tooling system design
- Supporting low-rate production of test hardware, including hands-on support on the line and part characterisation using various techniques (metrology, composite testing, NDT)
Requirements
- A relevant Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Experience in composite process development/manufacturing, particularly with RTM and dry fibre preforming
- Demonstrated experience of process improvement and material development (carbon fabric, resin, adhesive, binder, bond primers)
- Low TRL/MRL technology development experience and experience with Aerospace quality systems
- An estimated salary of £65,000 - £85,000 per annum, based on location and experience
- Flexible working arrangements and holiday entitlement of 26 days per annum, with flexible option to buy or sell
