Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) as a Principal Technical Architect. In this role, you will be responsible for addressing the risks associated with our dependency on global navigation satellite systems that are vulnerable to both natural and intentional interference.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement architect solutions to time, quality, and cost
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and specialists in cyber security
  • Ensure the optimal set of system components are adopted in terms of performance, risk, cost, and long-term supportability/obsolescence
  • Support NPL's implementation of its own technical development and recruitment strategy
  • Work with the project management team to break down the solution into a coherent and structured delivery plan

We are offering a salary of £85,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in successful delivery of complex mission-critical projects at scale
  • Experience as a technical architect responsible for development and implementation of complex, mission-critical network infrastructures
  • Strong technical interest and ability to maintain currency with emerging technologies
  • Ability to engage and command respect when engaging at senior levels within client and internal stakeholder communities
