Direct Commercial Limited is a specialist commercial motor insurer with an award-winning Claims team. We are looking for a skilled Claims Examiner to join our team in Chelmsford.

The successful candidate will be based in our brand-new Claims Hub, where no two days are the same. In the DCL Claims department, you will gain exposure to a variety of liability scenarios and have the opportunity to learn on the job.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of a third-party claim from notification through to conclusion.
  • Provide an excellent claims handling service with minimal leakage, in accordance with company procedures and service standards.
  • Accurately value injury claims and subsequent associated losses.
  • Ensure that claim reserves, payments, and Large Movement Reports are calculated correctly.
  • Investigate and resolve claims in a professional, timely, and proactive manner.
  • Manage and exceed customer expectations and prioritise work to resolve disputes that may arise in the settlement of a claim.
  • Create accurate Claims Management System records.
  • Identify own training needs and seek appropriate training to meet performance targets.
  • Maintain quality, service standards, and productivity levels to a high standard.
  • Be supportive of change within the claims handling teams.
  • Attend in-house and client review meetings as required.
  • Assist with internal and external auditing.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A minimum of 12 months claims experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and the Motor Insurers Bureau.
  • A solid understanding of Small, Multi, and Fast Track litigation process.
  • Capability of investigating and negotiating liability disputes.
  • Capability of negotiating credit hire and property damage claims.
  • Awareness of fraud tactics (identification, validation, and handling).
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams and work within time scales and directed by the Court or line manager.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
