We are seeking an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join our team at West Sussex County Council. As a key member of our HR and OD Directorate, you will be responsible for leading a team of up to 15 individuals in providing an efficient and customer-focused payroll and HR administration service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of payroll professionals in delivering high-quality services to customers
  • Ensure highly efficient, effective, and compliant payroll processing
  • Develop and improve the quality of services provided in a fast-paced and efficient service delivery environment
  • Supervise and support team members, providing mentoring, coaching, and development opportunities
  • Communicate complex matters in a clear and concise manner
  • Manage complex work to timescales and contribute to team planning and prioritization of work
Requirements:
  • Sound knowledge of relevant payroll and pensions regulations, services, and schemes within Local Government
  • Good working knowledge of SAP or other similar equivalent systems
  • Sound and accurate overall IT knowledge, including Excel
  • Ability to manage complex work to timescales and contribute to team planning and prioritization of work
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement in service delivery
