About the Role

The London Borough of Sutton is committed to providing high-quality contact services for its looked-after children. To achieve this, we are recruiting sessional contact supervisors who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team at Sutton Family Centre.

We are seeking a skilled contact supervisor to oversee contact sessions between children and their families, who are involved with our service. This role will be based at Sutton Family Centre and will involve coordinating contact sessions, recording these sessions, and providing parenting feedback.

The successful candidate will provide a formal supervised contact service, working alongside social workers to contribute towards parenting assessments. They will apply the principles of restorative practice in their work with children and families, working directly with them to achieve positive outcomes.

This role will involve working primarily during after-school sessions, weekdays between 3:30pm-5:30pm, with some sessions taking place between 9am-12pm and 1pm-3:30pm. School holidays and occasional Saturday mornings may also be required.

About Us

This post will be based within our Court Proceedings and Adoption Service, where you will deliver a critical front-facing service that supports the effective delivery of services for our children, young people, and their families. You will receive training, support, and regular supervision, working within a supportive team.

About You

As a contact supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and supporting direct contact between children, their parents/carers, and extended family members, ensuring the needs of the child are met and that the contact is a safe and positive experience for the child and its family. You will also have the opportunity to assist parents in developing their parenting skills within the context of contact.

You will need to have experience of working directly with children and parents, have the ability to implement contact plans, possess effective communication skills, and be able to work within the child protection framework. You will be required to record contact sessions to a high standard, which may take place at different venues in the borough and in the community, with some travel expected.
