Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant

Leader Education is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a large SEND school in Peterlee. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and a high level of autonomy.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A DBS check or be willing to obtain one.
  • Educational background or work experience relevant to the position, such as teaching assistant, nursery practitioner, or support worker.
  • Specialised training or working experience in autism education is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • A good knowledge of EHCPs.
  • The ability to assist in lessons and activities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
