Naval Architect

BMT Group Ltd - Engineering Consultants is seeking a talented Senior Naval Architect - Submarine Lifecycle to join our expanding Submarine Naval Architecture Team. This challenging and rewarding role will provide you with the opportunity to work on various submarine projects across their lifecycle, from concept design to delivery and support.

As a Senior Naval Architect, you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of naval architectural aspects of our projects. This will include working on feasibility studies, technical engineering investigations, and design changes to support our international customers and improve the safety and availability of UK submarines.

• Key Responsibilities:
• Surveys on submarines to support design changes;
• 3D modelling and naval architectural calculations to support concept design development and design changes;
• Structural analysis using both hand calculations and finite element analysis;
• Stability assessments using the Paramarine Naval Architecture software;
• Engineering assessments to support submarine life extensions;

About You: To be successful in this role, you will be someone who thrives on new challenges, is motivated by variety, and has a strong desire to build on your experience. You will have a HNC/HND/Foundation Degree or Bachelors/Masters degree or postgraduate qualification in Naval Architecture or a similar subject, and practical and relevant experience of conventional or nuclear submarine Naval Architecture. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience of leading technical projects, flexibility to be deployed on a range of projects and customer sites, and experience of project management with a recognised project management qualification are also essential.
