Head Gardener

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Gardener to lead our team at Belton Estate, a 17th Century mansion surrounded by 1200 acres of spectacular parkland, gardens, and pleasure grounds.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a vision for the gardens, working closely with the property leadership team to integrate the gardens into the whole estate experience.
- Manage a team of staff and volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality garden experiences.
- Work closely with the visitor experience team to champion the cause of the gardens and engage visitors with the beauty, nature, and narratives of the garden.
- Ensure the safety and compliance of the garden, managing operational risk and compliance requirements relevant to horticulture.
- Manage resources, budgets, and work plans to ensure quality delivery and achieve high standards of presentation.
- Proven experience of managing a diverse garden throughout the seasons.
- Excellent knowledge of plants and plant care, with a creative flair for gardening.
- Ability to motivate and lead a team, setting high standards for yourself and those around you.
- Experience with managing operational risk and compliance requirements relevant to horticulture.
- Commitment to working as part of a wider team to build a culture of inclusion.
- Higher level of horticultural experience supported by appropriate qualifications to RHS level 3 or above (or equivalent vocational experience).
