About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our team in Carlisle. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of our day-to-day transport operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of drivers to drive performance KPIs and develop a clear operational plan to reduce costs and improve service.
  • Manage fleet maintenance and administration, investigating any service or operational failures to prevent future issues.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly working environment for all employees, agency, and subcontractors.
  • Recruit, induct, and manage absence, well-being meetings, and disciplinary procedures within the transport department.
  • Ensure effective communication within the transport teams through regular meetings and briefings.
  • Deliver operational KPIs, maintaining and improving performance levels to maximize efficiency in line with account KPIs.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience of a transport function within the FMCG distribution industry.
  • Background operating at a management level is a must.
  • Transport CPC – desirable.
  • Passion for encouraging teamwork and creating an innovative culture where all employees can voice their suggestions and ideas.
  • Excellent team management skills for developing your team.
  • Analytical mindset.
  • Flexibility to cover a variety of shift patterns in the future.
  • Previous experience with trade unions is beneficial.
