Transforming the Future of Aerosol Generation

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Undergraduate Intern to join our Research and Development team at British American Tobacco. As a key member of our Heating and Aerosol Mechanics Team, you will play a crucial role in exploiting emerging technologies for the generation of aerosols from both liquid and solid media.

About the Role

This 12-month placement will provide you with the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects, designing and running laboratory experiments, interpreting and presenting results, and delivering recommendations to the business. You will be working with a wide range of internal and external subject matter experts, including molecular biologists, human biologists, toxicologists, chemists, biomedical scientists, psychologists, neuroscientists, sensorial scientists, data scientists, computer scientists, product designers, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering scientific workstreams involving discovery and evaluation of emerging technology for the generation of aerosols
  • Designing and commissioning test rigs with rapid prototyping experts
  • Designing experiments and conducting lab-based research
  • Completing a range of physical measurements of emitted aerosol
  • Processing data, conducting statistical analysis, and presenting results, conclusions, and recommendations

Requirements

  • Students working towards an undergraduate degree in Physics or a related subject
  • Motivation to work in a Good Laboratory Practice environment
  • Statistical analysis
  • Scientific curiosity and critical thinking
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to communicate with both specialist and non-specialist audiences
