Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Data Specialist to join our team at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Medical Data Specialist, you will be responsible for extracting, analysing, and coding complex clinical information describing patient diagnostic and procedural healthcare status within an episode of care. The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of National Clinical Coding Standards, strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at least Grade C/Grade 4 or equivalent qualification, National Clinical Coding Qualification, and Accredited Clinical Coder status. They should also have experience with accurate data entry, hospital and/or clinical information systems, and Microsoft Office 365 suite.

We offer a competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience, as well as flexible working arrangements, including remote working. Our team is led by an open, transparent, and dedicated leadership who strive to create a productive and supportive work environment that delivers high-quality codified output. We support our staff in becoming comfortable with working to an Agile framework and improving their quality as a coder through our well-established Clinical Coding Quality Assurance function.

  • Extract, analyse, and codify complex clinical information using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications.
  • Ensure high-quality and accurate codified data, in line with all relevant National Clinical Coding Standards and Local Clinical Coding Policies.
