Accounts Payable Team Leader Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounts Payable Team Leader to join our dynamic finance team in Central Milton Keynes. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and guiding a small team of Accounts Payable Clerks, ensuring the day-to-day efficiency of the department.

About the Role:

This is an excellent opportunity to play a crucial leadership role in our Accounts Payable operation, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. You will be responsible for maintaining a high level of accuracy in the work delivered, supporting key business projects, and ensuring payment runs are processed correctly with approximately 1,200 invoices being processed every month.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ownership of the Purchase Ledger: Take ownership of the entire purchase ledger process, from receiving invoices to the final payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance, matching invoices to the correct PO numbers and liaising with other departments when required.
  • Cash Flow Management: Actively contribute to the effective management of cash flow, optimising payment terms and coordinating with internal stakeholders.
  • Dispute Resolution: Proactively address and resolve disputes with suppliers, demonstrating strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Invoice Query Resolution: Take the lead in resolving complex invoice queries, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborative Work: Collaborate proactively within the team to ensure the smooth processing of the purchase ledger, fostering a positive and efficient working environment.
Requirements:
  • Proven leadership and team management experience within accounts, with the ability to inspire and guide a team towards shared goals.
  • Proactive and highly organised with strong time management and planning skills.
  • Proficient in using computer applications and software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with colleagues, cross-functional teams, and third parties.
  • Observant and resourceful with a methodical approach.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and able to meet challenges.
