Assistant Professor of English

Northern State University's Department of English, Communication, and Global Languages is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English position. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching first- and second-year composition, contemporary rhetoric, and professional writing courses.
Key Responsibilities:- Teach Composition I and II, Contemporary Rhetoric, Media Writing and Media Editing, and Professional Writing
- Serve as advisor to the university's student-run news publication The Exponent
- Maintain an active research and scholarly agenda
- Mentor undergraduate students in research and career readiness
- Support student recruitment and retention efforts
- PhD in English or closely related field (ABDs with a definite completion date prior to August 2025 will be considered)
- Strong background in professional writing, especially writing for digital media and/or generative AI
