About the Role:

BWB Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our transport planning department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality transport assessments and statements to support planning applications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transport planning, with experience in analysis and assessment, and excellent client-focussed attitude, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in an unsupervised environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Transport Directors in delivering growth in the region by leading and supporting projects, including transport assessments, transport statements, travel plans, masterplans, and other technical reports.
  • Maintain and grow a client base through account management, working closely with project leads and account managers to ensure KPIs are met.
  • Collaborate with other members of the transport planning team, other BWB services, private and public sector clients, architects, and planners throughout the project life cycle.
  • Lead and support meetings, including negotiations with local authorities and other regulatory bodies.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • A good understanding of transport planning principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply technical standards (such as Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets, and Local Authority Design Guides).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Able to demonstrate experience in Client and highway authority relationship management, transport planning for development, including analysis and assessment, and preparation of transport statements/assessments, travel plans, ES chapters, access studies, and AADT/AAWT flows for air/noise assessments.
  • Possesses knowledge of industry-standard junction capacity assessment applications such as Junctions 10 and LinSig, preferably including experience of larger network modelling.
  • Able to prepare and check figures and drawings using packages such as AutoCAD and GIS.
  • An ability to demonstrate management techniques, including project and resource management, as well as the mentoring of junior staff.
