Job Summary

The Neonatal Governance Lead will work closely with the Clinical Risk Team and the Head of Midwifery to deliver the corporate agenda on risk management. This role will promote and facilitate effective clinical governance, risk management, and quality assurance within the clinical directorate.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and promote the Neonatal risk management process.
  • Collate incident statistics and monitor trends from adverse incidents.
  • Participate in the delivery of the Division plan for health and safety, and clinical and non-clinical risk assessment as determined by the Trust and Division policies and guidelines.
  • Manage serious incidents in line with the Trust's guidelines.
  • Oversee national and local service evaluation, review, and audit.

Requirements
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Clinical risk management training/experience.
  • Mentorship/preceptorship trained.
  • Evidence portfolio of NMC revalidation requirements.
  • Neonatal QIS.
  • NLS certification.
  • Safeguarding children level 3.
  • Educated to degree level or evidence of working towards.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Management qualification at diploma level or equivalent.
  • Clinical audit competence/training.
  • Experience of training staff.
  • Experience of evidencing NICE compliance.
  • Experience of patient administration systems.
  • In-depth and highly developed knowledge and expertise in relation to specialist areas, CQC standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Datix risk management system.
  • Experience of developing clinical guidelines.
  • Participation in clinical audit, including data collection and developing action plans.
