Job Title: Stroke Medicine Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stroke Medicine Consultant to join our team at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. As a Stroke Medicine Consultant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients with stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) symptoms.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have at least 12 months of experience in stroke medicine, including hyperacute stroke care, TIA, and thrombolysis. You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise to ensure the continuous development of stroke services. You will also contribute to the implementation of national initiatives to improve stroke care and participate in teaching and training of multidisciplinary professionals, stroke teams, and medical students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise to ensure the continuous development of stroke services.
  • Contribute to the implementation of national initiatives to improve stroke care.
  • Teach and train multidisciplinary professionals, stroke teams, and medical students.
  • Participate in stroke service and trust clinical governance, audit, and research.
  • Ensure active participation in continuing medical education (CME), appraisal, and revalidation.

Requirements
  • At least 12 months of experience in stroke medicine, including hyperacute stroke care, TIA, and thrombolysis.
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in medicine for the elderly, stroke, general medicine, or neurology and stroke.
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems in adult medicine.
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • MD or PhD.
