About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ICT Engineer/Designer to join our Infrastructure team within the Operate department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting complex ICT systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 3rd line support to 1st/2nd line teams and customers on high-profile, high-priority incidents.
  • Manage incident processes from end to end, including escalations to vendors, notifications to 1st line, customers, and senior leadership.
  • Perform routine security and maintenance tasks across the full estate of Desktops, Servers, M365 infrastructure, Cloud Applications, and all software packages used on the Council and its partner's networks.
  • Deliver all elements of work to agreed timescales and standards.
  • Maintain a knowledge database to provide accurate information to users at all skill levels of ICT ability.
  • Lead smaller teams to deliver projects and provide support as required for other team members to enable successful delivery of operation priorities.
  • Collaborate with other technical and non-technical teams to support service delivery to agreed deadlines.
Requirements
  • Experience in delivering high-quality customer support and incident management within required timescales and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with a desire to keep all stakeholders informed and manage expectations.
  • Dynamic and positive attitude with the ability to work through obstacles and barriers; confidence to negotiate with stakeholders at all levels, with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Desire and ability to improve processes; to capture learning from completed tasks to enhance the future performance of the team.
Technical Skills
  • Experience in several of the following technology areas: Microsoft 365/Azure/MEM/SharePoint/Entra/Hybrid/Identity/Defender, Microsoft SCCM/MECM, Windows Server & Desktop, Active Directory/Authentication/Group Policy/DNS/PKI/DHCP, Exchange/Exchange365 Online, IIS/Apache/TomCat, MS Office & Teams applications, PowerShell Scripting, Enterprise Security, Linux/Unix/RedCat, Hypervisors: VmWare ESXi, VmWare vSphere/Hyper V, Nutanix, Enterprise DR applications (Veritas NetBackup/Keepit).
