Mortgage Broker Job Description

At Crux Careers, we are seeking a skilled Mortgage Broker to join our team. As a Mortgage Broker, you will be responsible for providing mortgage advice to clients, ensuring that you comply with the FCA's rules and our firm's procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a mortgage advice service to clients, identifying and contacting potential clients, gathering client information, and making suitable recommendations.
  • Analyse information gathered and undertake sufficient research to make suitable recommendations, ensuring that the level of service agreed with each client is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Complete all supporting documentation in an accurate manner, maintaining competent status as defined by the FCA and the firm.
  • Keep up to date with new products, technical or legislative changes within the marketplace, complying with the Compliance and Training & Competence Schemes/Procedures of the firm.
  • Comply at all times with the requirements of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and the FCA's Principles, Rules, and the Code of Practice for Approved Persons.
  • Maintain performance standards in accordance with those outlined in the Key Performance Indicators section of the firm's Training & Competence scheme.
  • Via self-assessment and feedback, identify Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs to maintain and enhance Competent status and undertake appropriate activity to meet those needs.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a mortgage advisory capacity, with CeMap qualification.
  • Able to build and forge strong relationships, with strong communication skills, analytical and research abilities, numerical understanding, and ability to provide simple explanations.
  • Provide an exceptional client service, with strong negotiation and influencing skills, organised and effective time management, ability to make effective decisions, technical product knowledge in the mortgage and protection arena, and professional and ethical conduct.
  • Flexible approach to diary management, to meet client needs, with discretion and self-motivation.
