About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Director to join our client, an established engineering company. As a key member of their team, you will oversee and deliver high-quality design outputs for various projects across the UK and internationally.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong leadership skills and design management experience to make a significant impact in a forward-thinking business. You will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing resources, and ensuring that design deliverables meet technical, budgetary, and timeline requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Delivery: Lead the delivery of project designs, ensuring alignment with technical, budgetary, and scheduling requirements.
  2. Design Programme Management: Develop and manage design programmes and budgets.
  3. Detailed Design Packages: Oversee the creation of detailed design packages, from initial concepts to final documentation.
  4. Team Coordination: Coordinate input from civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines across in-house and subcontract teams.
  5. Design Reviews: Chair internal and external design reviews, ensuring spatial and functional coordination.
  6. Clients and Stakeholders: Liaise with clients, site teams, and regulatory authorities to address project requirements and resolve issues.
  7. Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and oversight for project design deliverables.

Candidate Requirements

  1. Degree Qualification: Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  2. Design Management Experience: Proven experience in design management within a construction or engineering-related field.
  3. Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  4. Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary inputs and deliverables.
  5. Chartered Engineer Status: Chartered Engineer status is desirable but not essential.
  6. International Travel: Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Salary and Benefits
