Job Overview

As a Design Engineer at McGee Group, you will play a vital role in conducting detailed design and checking of temporary works, providing technical support to assist with operational activities. You will contribute to design conceptualization, enabling innovative development of unambiguous engineering solutions from feasibility through to detailed design information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop concept designs through working with the project team and client, and manage their detailed development.
  • Support the digital engineering team in the production of models and drawings to communicate the design intent.
  • Mitigate construction risks through design and communicate residual risks to the project team.
  • Support the preconstruction team in the development of concept tender designs.
  • Manage staged technical reviews of designs as part of the assurance process.
  • Work with the broader project teams to understand time frames, key risks, and technical constraints.
  • Represent McGee Group's position as a Specialist Engineering Contractor, proactively driving and developing sustainable solutions to our clients' problems.
Requirements
  • Excellent track record of performing a similar role within a well-respected consultancy or contractor's in-house design team.
  • Proficient planning skills, including design programming and IRS.
  • Experience with the practical aspects of operational limitations of structures.
  • Knowledge of current CDM regulations and design codes.
  • Confident and clear communicator, able to engage individuals at all levels.
  • Structured and able to deliver performance and outcomes, driving professionalism in others.
