Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our UK Recruitment and Outreach team at the University of Reading. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting prospective students and applicants, with a particular focus on students from a widening participation background.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and further developing a strategic programme of outreach, recruitment, and conversion activity in the South West region, as well as providing occasional cover in South Wales. You will also lead on the project management of intensive widening participation projects supporting students from across the UK, with support from other Regional Officers in the team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement effective outreach and recruitment strategies to engage with students from widening participation backgrounds.
  2. Work closely with colleagues to deliver a range of outreach and recruitment activities, including events, workshops, and one-to-one support.
  3. Manage and coordinate the delivery of intensive widening participation projects, working closely with Regional Officers and other stakeholders.
  4. Provide excellent customer service and support to prospective students and applicants, responding to queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and maintain relationships with schools, colleges, and other education providers in the South West region.
  6. Contribute to the development and implementation of the University's widening participation strategy, working closely with the Regional Recruitment and Access Manager and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • A first degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Experience of working within a student recruitment, outreach, or similar role.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the UK higher education sector and the student recruitment cycle, including post-application timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
