Job Description:

A Behaviour Support Assistant plays a vital role in supporting students with their emotional and behavioral needs. This involves working closely with teachers and other support staff to implement strategies that promote positive behaviour among students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Student Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students exhibiting challenging behaviours, helping them develop coping strategies and improve their social skills.
  • Behaviour Management: Assist in the development and implementation of individualised behaviour plans tailored to meet the specific needs of students.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and report on student progress, collaborating with teachers to adjust strategies as necessary.
  • Fostering a Positive Environment: Create a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work alongside teaching staff, special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs), and parents to ensure consistent approaches to behaviour management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience: Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Background: A background in psychology, education, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
  • Patient and Empathetic: Patience, empathy, and resilience when dealing with challenging situations.
