Job Summary:

As a Transportation Engineer with Essex County Council, you will play a key role in designing and constructing developer-funded highway infrastructure works. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize your skills and experience to make a real difference in our community.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and construct developer-funded highway infrastructure works.
  • Liaise directly with internal and external stakeholders, strategic partners, and other providers.
  • Represent the Highway Authority interests for a large portfolio of works designed and constructed by a 3rd party.
  • Ensure statutory processes are followed as required.
  • Instruct legal agreements to allow developers' infrastructure works to be adopted as public highway.

Requirements:

  • Educated to RQF Level 6 (Bachelor's degree) in related subject or equivalent proven experience in the field of highways and/or transportation.
  • Membership of the Institute of Civil Engineers, Institute of Highways & Transportation, Institute of Highway Incorporated Engineers, or other appropriate professional body.
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Highway legislation, Health and Safety legislation including Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, relevant design procedures, and standards/practice.
  • Knowledge and experience of financial management and control measures.
  • Experience of managing the development and implementation of the highway aspects of highways schemes, including statutory processes.
