The University of Glasgow seeks a highly skilled Quantitative Research Scientist to join its Centre for Virus Research. This exciting opportunity is part of the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research, where our team combines computational, experimental and clinical research to understand virus infection, evolution, and transmission.

As a Quantitative Research Scientist, you will play a key role in developing mathematical and statistical approaches to better understand virus spread across cells, organisms and populations. You will work closely with researchers at the CVR and other disciplines to build strong links and enhance preparedness for outbreaks and epidemics.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate with excellent data analysis and research skills, high level of mathematical ability, and excellent communication skills. You should have experience in developing mathematical or statistical approaches to solve problems in biology, writing software for processing and analyzing biological data, and writing scientific reports and publications.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A1: Scottish Credit and Qualification level 10 (Honour's degree)
  • C1: Excellent data analysis and research skills
  • C2: High level of mathematical ability
  • C3: Excellent communication skills
  • E1: Experience of developing mathematical or statistical approaches to solve problems in biology

Desirable Qualifications:

  • F1: Experience of computational research involving viruses or infectious disease
