Main Responsibilities:- Plan, control, and review client work to ensure efficient and effective completion.
- Hold pre-audit meetings with clients to establish key business areas and potential anomalies.
- Prepare time budgets and ensure fees are set to enable the office to make a profit.
- Ensure detailed audit or accounts planning memoranda are completed by seniors.
- Brief audit or accounts staff on client and business details, ensuring cost-effective approaches.
- Review work received, addressing issues and referring them back to audit staff for completion.
- Ensure files are complete and audit or accounts work is sufficient for Partners to form an opinion.
- Monitor work in progress, communicating potential problems and write-offs to Partners.
- Record hours worked correctly, enabling a true reflection of job profitability.
- Prepare fee schedules and bill for Partner review and approval.
- Draft management letters, finalize accounts, and letters of engagement.
- Attend client meetings as necessary.
- Allocate trainees to a variety of jobs to provide broad training and maximize experience.
- Complete 6-monthly appraisals and sign off training records for allocated staff.
- Deal with day-to-day staff issues, including holidays, courses, conflicts, quality of work, motivation, and monitoring chargeable and non-chargeable hours.
- Assume specific office responsibilities, such as technical contact, IT contact, marketing committee, client care committee, and maintenance of the office work planner.

The ideal candidate will have a fully qualified ACA/ACCA with a minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience in external audit, accounts, and general practice from another UK Accountancy Practice Firm office.
They will also have up-to-date CPE and recent developments in accounting standards, experience working with OMBs covering a range of industries, and a demonstrable ability to think commercially and seek out opportunities within the portfolio.
