Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Oncology Specialist to join our dynamic team at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Clinical Oncology, you will play a key role in the management of urological and breast cancers, with a specialist interest in prostate seed brachytherapy.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of urological and breast cancers, sharing responsibility with colleagues for day-to-day management of the clinical service.

• Participate in complex radiotherapy planning and treatment techniques, including prostate seed brachytherapy.

• Deliver systemic therapy and participate in clinical trials, taking an active role in the design of original clinical trials and studies.

• Supervise undergraduates, junior doctors, and other staff, participating in multi-disciplinary meetings, ward rounds, and on-call commitments.

Requirements

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have CCT or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. We welcome applications from those unable to work full-time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

As part of our commitment to supporting the medical workforce, all newly appointed Consultants attend our five-day Consultant Development programme within a year of joining the Trust. This innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice. Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
